Well, I successfully got my husband hooked to Grey's Anatomy and we are finally on the 7th season.. so almost caught up! Early last week I watched No Strings Attached with Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher
While I love both of the actors, the storyline was lacking. It was sooooo predictable and there were a lot of irrelevant little side stories added that I'm still scratching my head about. Overall, I was disappointed.

On the other hand, Friday night we were able to watch

True Grit turned out to be a really great movie. I didn't have very high expectations but there was just the right amount of action to keep you entertained without being too over the top. The acting was phenomenal.

Coming in the mail tomorrow is..

I have very high hopes for this movie. The cast is wonderfully talented and it won a great deal of awards during award season.

So what's been on your DVR or queue this week?

Thanks to Netflix for the pictures!

Fabulous PhotoShoots

I apologize for being MIA lately.. I had finals for summer classes and the ongoing health issues. But on the brighter side, I had a fantastic photo shoot this past Friday with the talented Steve Maisch of Steve Maisch Photography. Our inspiration this time was the 1920s and we focuses on the flapper and Old Hollywood look. Hope you all enjoy! For more pictures or information about Steve and his photography like "Steve Maisch Photography" on Facebook or check out his website at www.stevemaisch.com

Hair was done by Tanya Maisch and makeup done by Gabbie Maisch (a talented powerhouse family!!!)

Manic Monday

As I'm getting ready for a weekend in Memphis, I decided to dedicate this weekend posts to the late, great Johnny Cash who as many know got his start in Memphis.

Johnny Cash-Ring of Fire
I love, love, love this song! And I love the scene in "Walk the Line" when June Carter Cash writes the lyrics for it. Such a moving story!

Johnny Cash-When the Man Comes Around
This song reminds me of the remake of "Dawn of the Dead" which scared the hell out of me.

Johnny Cash-Hurt
I cannot get through this song without crying. It is so haunting as he made this video mere months before he passed. Such an awesome cover to an awesome Nine Inch Nails song.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Ti Amo Thursdays

My picks for the week..
Tribal Print Halter Dress from Charlotte Russe
I adore the colors in this tribal print! The silhouette is flattering on almost everyone and for $19.99, it won't hurt the bank account!

I love the different textures and the little twist of color for these black wedges. They're still neutral and will match a variety of different things.

I've always had an appreciation for turquoise jewelry and this ring set is no exception!

Hope everyone has a lovely Father's Day Weekend!
Thanks to Charlotte Russe, GoJane and Lulu*s for the pictures!

In the Queue

Monday was truly manic as I spent most of the day fasting for a procedure that was scheduled for 2 PM. My procedure didn't actually happen til close to 5 PM so by the time I finally got home I was exhausted!

Anyways, I watched Love & Other Drugs on Saturday. Without the hotness that is Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hatheway I don't think I would have cared for it. The storyline is actually quite sad but their insane chemistry kept me from ejecting the disc.

A few weeks ago, my husband finally forced me to watched Meet the Parents. I'm not sure why it has taken me so long to watch it, but I love Robert DeNiro so I really enjoyed it, so this week is all about the Fockers..
Meet the Fockers comes in the mail today followed by Little Fockers. Also, we've been catching up on Season 3 of Castle.

If you haven't seen this charming little show, I HIGHLY recommend it. It is one of mine and my husband's favorites. Nathan Fillion is so darn cute as a novelist who shadows Kate Beckett, an NYPD detective, who is played by the gorgeous Stana Katic. Their love/hate relationship is infatuating and the crime stories are actually really good as well.

Fabulous Photoshoots

Instead of my usual "Ti Amo Thursdays" post, I know I promised a long time ago that I would share some of my fabulous photoshoots that I do as a hobby. This particular photoshoot took place right at the end of tax season and a day after I returned to the land of the gingers. Steve Maisch, a very talented local photographer and I were very excited about the recent release of the movie Sucker Punch
The girls in the movie were both strong and sexy and we felt this would make an excellent theme for a photoshoot. So after weeks of planning, myself and 3 other models got to make our own homage to the movie entitled "KnockOuts" It was a very long and trying day: I was very sick this day, our makeup artist had a bizarre food coloring burn accident but the location we shot at was so wonderfully creepy (an old abandoned paper factory) and I loved the results. Here is my favorite picture from the shoot:

I haven't been involved in any shoots since then, but will share a few other past ones that I think you will enjoy :)

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and thank you to Steve Maisch and his badass team of makeup and hair stylists and assistants that made this happen!

So, the husband and I really enjoyed last week's Scott Pilgrim vs The World. Very quirky and fun!

Last night we watched..
I think we would give it 3 out of 5 stars. It started off slow but it definitely had its funny and heartwarming moments. Christian Bale was insanely good at playing Dicky and Mark Wahlburg has definitely improved his acting skills since "Fear" ;)

Coming in the mail on Thursday is..

I've heard mixed reviews about this movie. I find that people either love it or hate it.. so hopefully we're in that first category. I definitely love Jake Gyllenhaal.. yum!!!

Thanks to Netflix for the pictures!

Just in case you need another blog to add to your Favorites.. check out my travel blog "My So Called Life" at
www.sporktastic0626.blogspot.com

Obviously it won't be updated too regularly since I only travel 2-3 times a year, but I've been told I'm fabulously detailed :)

My trip to Vegas will be posted shortly!

Ti Amo Thursdays

Here are my picks for the week..

As you know I love GoJane.com and their shoe selections are the primary reason. These beauties caught my eye instantly.
Velvet Snake Print Trim Pump from GoJane

How adorable?!?!

Loooove this bangle!

Hope everyone had a nice holiday! I caught up on some Grey's Anatomy (I finally finished the 2nd season!)

I also watched this disaster yesterday..
So so so so very boring. I can't really say much else. It was a bit odd to see Kristin Stewart play a "call girl" but she still was Kristin Stewart. I love her but she can't really be anyone else besides Kristin Stewart lol.

This comes in the mailbox this week.. and I've heard great things about it so hopefully it is!

Plus Michael Cera is so geeky cute ;)

What's on your must-watch list?

Thanks to Netflix for the pictures!

Manic Monday

And indeed it is.. I'm sure many of us Americans are either at a barbecue at the moment or are heading to one (which I will be once my husband is FINALLY  ready to go!) hehe.. so in honor of Memorial Day, my songs this week are patriotic or culturally American in some way.

Estelle f/Kanye West- American Boy
They played this a lot in Italy, believe it or not, and this is my husband's ringtone when he calls me :)

Bruce Springsteen- Born in the USA
Mr. Springsteen and I share the same birthday :)

Jay-Z f/Alicia Keys- Empire State of Mind
Some would argue that New York is the best city in the world. Many would argue its the best city in the United States. I would argue that I need to visit SOON!

Hope you all are enjoying the long weekend! Thanks to YouTube for the videos!

Ti Amo Thursdays

Hi everyone! Hope you are having a lovely week.. I know I am looking forward to the long holiday weekend (hopefully it doesn't rain the whole time!) Here are my picks for the week:

Bird Print Ruched Sleeve Dress from GoJane
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this!!!!

Colin Stuart Strappy Platform Pump from Victoria's Secret
These just scream "bombshell" at me. My favorites are the nude with black straps but the yellow is a close second.

Rosetti Cross-Body Handbag from Kohls
The day after I buy a handbag, I'm already on the hunt for a next. I am so picky when it comes to purses that it usually takes months to find one that will work for me. I really enjoy this cross-body and I love the color!

So, what have you had your eyes on lately?

Thanks to GoJane, Victoria's Secret and Kohls for the pictures

My Monday yesterday was so manic, I didn't have time to post my Manic Monday. As the only contributor to this blog with a full time job and now school, there will prob be times that I won't be able to post. Which sucks royally. I wish there were 7 of me to help me get everything done.

Over the weekend, I watched Vampire Sucks. While Matt Lanter is oh so yummy, there were only a few ha-ha moments and the rest of the movie was spent shaking my head at the ludicrous parody.
Coming in the mail today is...

To be honest, I'm a little nervous about it. Ricky Gervais is usually hilarious but his performance while hosting the Golden Globes was so uncomfortable, I'm hoping this movie doesn't contain bitter Ricky.

What are you watching this week?

Fabulous Buys

As promised, I told you I would share some of my recent buys!

Women's Mid-Rise Trouser Jeans from Old Navy
These were oh so flattering on me and for only $9.99 on their clearance rack, I was beyond thrilled.

This is not the exact tank but I bought one similar to this from Charlotte Russe for only $10--no jewels in front and it was racerback. I don't own a lot of white and I've recently been stocking it!

I have to admit, I went a little crazy at Forever 21 a few weeks ago hehe but scored some truly fabulous things. Hope you agree :)

These are oh so comfy and cute at the same time!!!

The one I bought is cream and black.

These dolls were everywhere when we went to Prague last fall so when I saw this necklace I had to have it and for only $1.50 what's not to love?!

I bought a few more tops from Forever 21 as well but can't seem to find them on the website. Regardless, its been a successful and frugal few weeks for me :)

Hope you ladies have a wonderful weekend!
Thanks to Old Navy, Charlotte Russe and Forever 21 for the pictures!!!

Ti Amo Thursdays

This week has been finale week for many of the CW shows and many of them are ending with pregnancy cliff-hangers!! lol its completely unrelated to my picks for the week but just had to share that thought.

Cut out Patent Bow Platform from GoJane
This just screams Blair Waldorf. I love the classiness of them and for under $30 you can have high style within your budget!

I am loving the simple silhouette but the eyelet detail provides just the right amount of texture to it. So cute!

I don't think I've been this crazy about a new artist since I discovered Silversun Pickups three years ago. Her voice is so insanely good and certain music just reaches right into your soul.. she's one of 'em.

So ladies (and gents) what have you had your eyes on buying lately?

Thanks to GoJane, Forever 21 and Amazon for the pictures!

In the Queue

As I mentioned on Monday, I've been a little distracted with returning to grad school and being glued to my couch watching the following (there's not much else to do when your city is slowly turning into swampland!)

Last weekend, my husband and I watched this disaster of a movie:
I love both of these actors but man oh man did I struggle to get through this one. The story has been done better (See "Repo: The Genetic Opera") and the lack of song made the removal of body parts just well, bloody.

For the past couple of weeks we've been hooked on

I was sooooo skeptical about watching this and I'll admit it took about halfway through the first season for me to start to like it but oh my goodness once it has you hooked, you're done. The Sons are infectious with their constant drama and shenanigans. We just finished Season 2 last night and I'm itching to move on to Season 3.

Coming in the mail today is

I love musicals! And with this all star cast and subject matter, I have a feeling I'm going to enjoy it! :)

So what have you been watching lately?
Thanks to Netflix for the pictures!

Manic Monday

Hope everyone had a marvelous weekend. I plan to do an impromptu post of "In the Queue" tomorrow to update you all on what has been keeping me away from you as well as some "Fabulous Buys" I've made recently.

But onto my music picks for the week. I'm basing today's picks on today's weather: rainy and dreary.

Garbage- I'm Only Happy when It Rains
oh, how I love Shirley Manson and her vibrant red hair.

Missy Elliot- I Can't Stand the Rain
We've had weeks and weeks of rain here, people. I'm starting to feel like I live in Seattle or London and I catch myself singing this song in my head anytime I back out of the garage and a raindrop hits my window.

Adele-Set Fire to the Rain
Adele is my favorite new artist right now. Love, love, love her voice!

Ti Amo Thursdays

Hello lovelies! Hope you all have been having a nice week. The weather here in northern KY has been warm and sunny.. finally!!! Here are my picks for the week:

Pocketed Belted Collared Romper by GoJane
This just screams fun sophistication for me!

And wouldn't these be the perfect complement for that romper?! Hmm.. I could get them just in time for Memorial Day..

Everyone loves hand sani, especially the PocketBac from Bath & Body with the attachment that wraps around your purse handle. So why not display a part of your personality with your zodiac sign? Libra (my sign) smells divine!!

Thanks to GoJane, TopShop and Bath&Body Works for the pictures!

Manic Monday

I hope I don't sound like a broken record, but I apologize for the lack in posting last week. I am battling some kind of stomach issue and between work and life, I've been sleeping a lot more than normal. I also have started graduate school so time is lacking more than I would like. My songs today are based around the Fast & Furious films since we saw the 5th installment "Fast Five" last week.

DJ Shadow f/Mos Def- Six Days Remix
This comes from the 3rd film: Tokyo Drift which is mine and my husband's favorite.

Ludacris-Act a Fool
This is from the 2nd one which is my least favorite of the series, but it featured Ludacris who reappeared in the latest whom I do love <3

Saliva-Superstar
This is from the first one. I think its a good song to get "pumped" up for something, no?

Hope you all had a good weekend!
Thanks to YouTube for the videos!

Manic Monday

Not so much manic anymore, thank goodness. But I am preparing for the GMAT which I take this Friday since I am going back to school to get my MBA this fall.

Anyways, there's been lots of talk about classic rock this past week between myself, my husband and best friend so my picks this week are some of my favorite classic rock songs.

Led Zeppelin-Whole Lotta Love
I love pretty much anything by Led Zeppelin :)

Fleetwood Mac-Gold Dust Woman
Fleetwood Mac is probably in my top 10 of favorite bands of all time. I adore Stevie Nicks and would love love love to see her or Fleetwood Mac in concert. This song is hippy to the core but so fantastic. I remember being a little girl helping my mom clean the house to the Rumors record and belting out this song at the top of my lungs hehe.

Janis Joplin-Piece of My Heart

I love the gritty rawness to her voice. It gives me chills listening to her. But I understand that her sound is definitely an acquired taste.

Thanks to YouTube for the videos. Hope you all have a good week!!

Ti Amo Thursdays

Hello lovelies! I am so so sorry for my absence! The end of tax season, Vegas and sickness has consumed me these past couple of weeks. But now I'm feeling much better and am happily looking forward to a fabulous and fashionable summer here in Cincinnati.

On my wish list this week (its all about shoes!):
Platform Sandal with Guitar Heel
Some of you may question my taste level with this pick but I saw a girl wearing these in Vegas at "King Ink" and they are adorable! I think given the right outfit, they can be pulled off as a fun accessory with a bit of kickass attitude!

Colorblocking is definitely in and I think these are a nice little twist to the boring old nude pump! And for only $25, its easy on the wallet.

As a girl, I love shoes! And that includes tennis shoes/sneakers! I own 10 wearable pairs and am always looking to add to the collection. And I'm in love with these hot pink Nike's!

So.. enough about me. what have you had your eyes on lately?

Apologies

Hi everyone! I just wanted to give a quick note to apologize for not being able to blog very regularly especially in these last few weeks of tax season! I have not had any time to web shop this week so there will be no "Ti Amo Thursday" today. I have a very busy few days ahead of me along with Vegas so I'm hoping to blog at least once before I leave. But once I get back my schedule becomes extremely lax and open so there should be at least 4 posts a week!

Thank you for being patient and for following me.. I promise good posts are coming!!! :)

Manic Monday

Hello lovelies! As I embark on this last full week of tax season, I am listening to a lot of pop songs to get me amped up for Vegas. These are a few Top 40 songs at the moment that I can't get out of my head.

Ke$ha-Blow
I lose it every time she says "James Van der Douche"

Katy Perry f/Kanye West-E.T.

I've liked every song she's put out on this album.

Dr. Dre f/Eminem & Skylar Grey- I Need a Doctor
I love any colloboration between Dre and Eminem. They are the ultimate power duo. Skylar's vocals on the chorus are haunting and I enjoy the collage of video flashbacks in the beginning.

Hope you all have an amazing week!
Thanks to YouTube for the videos.

Fabulous Buys

As it is crunch time at work I haven't had much time to window shop lately. But as I mentioned in a previous post I did do a bit of real shopping over the last weekend. So I thought I'd share my fashion booty :)

American Rag Curvy Skinny Jeans from Macy's
I'm always on a quest for the perfect pair of jeans and these come pretty darn close. As a curvier woman, I've found it to be a little more difficult to pull off the skinny jean craze. However, American Rag's curvy skinny jeans solved all my problems. And when I walked up to the register and they rung up for $12 plus tax, well I think I may have made a little squeal of joy!

I finally used my Go Jane gift card. While the zig zag wedges were already sold out (tear!) I did find 2 pairs of reliable replacements. Granted, they're off season now, but phenomenal deals.

Sweater Cuff Pedestal Bootie

I don't have many pairs of brown boots and these were just too adorable to pass up for $15!

Suede Button Loop Bootie

Do I really need to say more?

I really need to get to Target to buy that Mossimo Messenger Bag before its gone (its sold out online!) and back to Macy's to shop for swim suits. Me and my mom are planning on doing some shopping next Friday to celebrate the death of this tax season and to see Scream 4.. I'm very much looking forward to it!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Thanks to Macy's and GoJane for the pictures!

Manic Monday

Good afternoon! Hope everyone's weekends were lovely; I actually got a little bit of shopping in!

Here are my music picks for the week. NKY is sunny and breezy so I am feeling spring fever today!

Jimmy Eat World-Sweetness
There's just something about this song that screams "summer with the windows down". Love it!

The Protomen- The Hounds
I just really enjoy this song :)

La Rocca- Sketches (20 Something Life)
I first heard La Rocca on One Tree Hill and instantly fell in love.

Thanks to Youtube for the videos.

Best Dressed: Country Music Awards

I didn't watch the awards but have been looking at pictures of the red carpet all morning and hands down, the Best Dressed (in my humble opinion) was Taylor Swift in her pale yellow Elie Saab gown.

From My Stovetop to Yours

I'm going to start off this post by saying that I am NOT a vegetarian. I applaud those of you who have chosen that path but I would hope that as I respect your lifestyle, in turn you will respect mine. Many of my recipes include meat so if you find that incredibly offensive, I would unfortunately advise you to stear clear of my Sunday posts.

Moving on, today I bring you yet another Weight Watchers recipe. (What can I say? They're delicious AND diet friendly!) We tried this for the first time this week and mmmm... yum yum yum!!!

Filet Mignon with Bearnaise Sauce
PointsPlus Value: 6
Servings: 4
Ingredients:
1/2 tsp table salt, or to taste, divided
1/2 tsp black pepper, freshly ground, or to taste, divided
1 pound(s) Beef, filet mignon, trimmed, raw, use four 4 oz pieces
2 spray(s) cooking spray
1 large egg yolk(s)
1 Tbsp water
2 1/3 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
1 tsp fresh lemon juice
1 1/2 Tbsp chives, and/or parsley, fresh, minced.

Instructions
Rub 1/4 teaspoon each salt and pepper all over steak.

Coat a grill pan with cooking spray; set over medium-high heat. Heat pan until it's almost smoking and sizzles when water is dropped onto pan surface.

Place steak on pan and cook, without turning, about 5 minutes. Flip steak; cook about 4 to 6 minutes more for medium doneness.

Remove steak to a cutting board and loosely cover with aluminum foil; let rest for at least 10 minutes (steak will continue to cook under foil)

Meanwhile, to make sauce, bring a small saucepan one-third filled with water to a boil (creating a double boiler). In a metal bowl, beat egg yolk with 1 tablespoon room temperature water until frothy; set bowl over saucepan and cook, stirring constantly, until egg yolk thickens, about 3 to 5 minutes. Remove egg yolk from heat; slowly whisk in melted butter until well combined. Stir in lemon juice and remaining salt and black pepper; whisk in fresh herbs. Serve steak with sauce. Yields about 3 oz of steak and 1 tablespoon of sauce per serving.

Note: Make sure you have all the ingredients prepped and ready before you start making the sauce.

**I would definitely recommend having everything prepped or a friend/significant other help as I found this easier as a 2 person recipe. For a side, we cooked potatoes, onion and zucchini in a skillet for 10 minutes.

Thanks to Weight Watchers for the picture and recipe!

Ti Amo Thursdays

Hello lovelies! While I am lounging on my couch this cloudy day, sadly it is because I am sick. I had made the decision to do a colon cleanse this last week and am now paying for it. My doctor has successfully scolded me but also gave me some meds to ease the pain. Thankfully, I can still use my fingers to search the web for beautful clothes and accesories such as these:

Mossimo Messenger Bag from Target
Unfortunately, the website isn't allowing me to save the picture in the format I need so you will need to click the link to see this beauty. I was in Target the other night with my husband to buy Black Swan on BluRay when I noticed it. However, we were in a hurry so I was rushed along. Needless to say, I think this is the perfect handbag to take to Vegas in a few weeks and I plan to go back to Target once I'm feeling better.

Athens Air Pleated Pink Tank Top from Lulu's
I really enjoy the softness of this pink tank. This would be perfect for work and play :)

I just think this is cute and frilly and for under $20, what's not to love?!

I also want to take this time to give a shout out to one of my fellow fashion bloggers: StyleID
She recently gave me a fabulous blogger's award and I can't thank her enough. So if you need another daily blog addiction, please check her out!!!

Thanks to Lulu's and Forever 21 for the pictures. Hope you all have a good weekend!

Manic Monday

Another week.. another manic monday. I am starting to count the minutes until April 15th! We saw Sucker Punch in theatres Saturday and wow.. I am simply amazed. The soundtrack was beyond awesome! So my choices today come from the soundtrack.

Bjork-Army of Me
Ah, Bjork is so crazy. But her songs are so haunting, in a soul searching kind of way.

Emily Browning-Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)
I love this song. Its been covered by so many different artists and I love every cover simply because I love the song so much! Emily Browning's voice goes so perfectly with the scene that this song was used for, it gave me chills in the theatre.

Silversun Pickups- Panic Switch

This song isn't actually on the soundtrack, but they used it in the trailers for the movie. Silversun is one of my favorite bands and I saw them in concert a few years back. As I get older, I find myself liking a mellow-er kind of rock and Silversun fills thoes shoes perfectly.

From My Stovetop to Yours

Happy Sunday! Happy New Recipes :)

Pork Piccata
PointsPlus Value: 5
Servings: 4

Ingredients:
3 Tbsp all-purpose flour
1 tsp table salt, divided
1/2 tsp black pepper, freshly ground, divided (or less to taste)
1 pound(s) lean pork tenderloin, trimmed, cut into 16 thin slices
2 1/2 tsp olive oil, divided
3/4 cup(s) canned chicken broth, reduced-sodium
1/4 cup(s) fresh lemon juice
2 tsp cornstarch
2 tsp butter
1 Tbsp capers, drained
1/2 tsp minced garlic
12 oz spinach, baby-variety

Instructions:

In a small bowl, combine flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper; sprinkle over both sides of pork, shaking off excess.

Heat 2 teaspoons of oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add pork (in 2 batches if necessary) and cook until just cooked through and golden, about 1 1/2 minutes per side; set aside on a serving plate and cover to keep warm.

In a cup, whisk together broth, lemon juice, cornstarch, 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/8 teaspoon pepper until blended. Pour into same skillet and whisk to combine with pan drippings; simmer until slightly thickened, about 1 minute. Remove skillet from heat; stir in butter until melted. Stir in capers and spoon over pork; cover to keep warm.

Heat remaining 1/2 teaspoon oil in same skillet over medium-high heat. Add garlic; cook, stirring, until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add spinach to skillet in batches, tossing mixture and adding more spinach as some of it cooks down. Cook, tossing, until wilted and tender, about 2 minutes. Sprinkle with remaining 1/4 teaspoon salt, a pinch of pepper and serve with pork. Yields 4 slices pork, about 3 tablespoons sauce and 1/2 cup spinach per serving.

We just made this for lunch today for the first time. While I'm not a fan of spinach, the pork was absolutely delicious!
Thanks to WeightWatchers for the picture!
